Where to Find Domestic Top Notch Needles

Unfortunately, Domestic Top Notch needles are no longer made. They can sometimes be found as New Old Stock on eBay, Etsy, and other online sales sites. Sometimes vintage sewing machine parts dealers have them. They are usually in Boye Tube 8 but occasionally in Boye Tube 2 if they came from a very early Boye case. Be sure to ask the seller for photos to verify that the top of the needles are notched. They are not always available, so be prepared to do a daily search for a while until some come up. Expect to pay a few dollars per needle.

The good news is that there are reported to be modern substitutes for the DTN needles. I have not tried them yet, but MY1014, TQX1, 16x99 and DB1 are reported to be worth a try. You will have to set them using the instructions below for needles with no notch.
