German TOBE

Machine Requirements	A treadle or hand crank sewing machine manufactured in Germany
Block	Uneven 9-Patch in reds and creams/light tans
Size	8½" by 8½". This is the ACTUAL size of the block that you send to Kelly Pakes, your hostess.
Set Size	12 blocks per set, with a limit of 4 sets.

Registering	Contact the hostess to sign up for the German TOBE. Don't worry if you sign up and life prevents you from participating in the end. It's no big deal! TOBEs are supposed to be fun, not stressful.

Fabrics	100% cotton in reds and creams/light tans. When selecting your cream/tan, remember that you will have to sign on the fabric, so avoid the kinds of color on color prints that have a paint-like accent pattern on the surface as they do not take ink well. 100% COTTON--do a burn test if necessary to ensure this. Burn the edge of a scrap of the chosen fabric. The burnt edge should turn into a powdery ash. If it forms a hard or lumpy edge, or has a plastic smell when burning, it is a synthetic blend and should not be used for this TOBE. PREWASH and test for colorfastness. This is especially important because red fabrics are notorious for bleeding. It is also important because the sizing can prevent the ink from penetrating the fibers when signing.
